Picture Day 26

Today is ultimate lazy day picture time. I realized at about 10:15 that I didn't have a piicture and asked K, what can I take a picture of without getting out of bed (because its cold and rainy and I'm all snuggled up comfy). He had no idea so I grabbed my camera (convienently at my bedside) and looked around the room and settled on this:

This is a dream catcher...I think from Arizona, maybe New Mexico. We bought it on our last trip to California with my Paw-Paw.  We drove, through Oklahoma on the way out and Texas and Arkansas on the way back. It was the last time he got to see his sister in San Diego and within a couple of years of the end of his life. He and my mom took me on all the great road trips of my youth. And he was a early starter. I remember when I was little waking up at like 3:30 to be on the road a little after 4 and I would promptly fall asleep in the car as soon as we got all loaded and strapped in. Those days I'd sleep all afternoon if you'd let me. Now, I can barely sleep in past 6:30, though some Sundays I make it to my 7:45 alarm for my medicine...and lately I've been going back to sleep for a bit after being up awhile. If I were planning a cross country road trip, I'd be inclined to do the same and leave around 4. I also share the family trait to just get in and go, I hardly stop. When I get food I prefer to go through a drive through and keep it moving. Ah road trips...a thing of my past now I'm afraid. Its so much easier to fly anywhere further than 6 hours away...and now that I've done the transatlantic thing three round trips now some of the shine has worn off flying. It's becoming a habit rather than a marvel. So it is a good thing I have reminders like this of the "good ol' days" of road trips for summer vacations with family.
